The Price of Faith

The Price Is Right

2 Samuel 24:20-25(GNT)

20 Araunah looked down and saw the king and his officials coming up to him. He threw himself on the ground in front of David 21 and asked, “Your Majesty, why are you here?”

David answered, “To buy your threshing place and build an altar for the Lord, in order to stop the epidemic.”

22 “Take it, Your Majesty,” Araunah said, “and offer to the Lord whatever you wish. Here are these oxen to burn as an offering on the altar; here are their yokes and the threshing boards to use as fuel.” 23 Araunah gave it all to the king and said to him, “May the Lord your God accept your offering.”

24 But the king answered, “No, I will pay you for it. I will not offer to the Lord my God sacrifices that have cost me nothing.” And he bought the threshing place and the oxen for fifty pieces of silver. 25 Then he built an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. The Lord answered his prayer, and the epidemic in Israel was stopped.

What has your faith cost you? Have you paid a price? Perhaps you have lost a few friends or possibly strained some family relationships but have you had to sacrifice anything? If we are truly following Jesus, we’ve had to make some sacrifices, if we aren’t saying no to selfish desires and yes to the Lord, we aren’t following, we are going our own way.

Matthew 16:24-28 (KJV)

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

I Have Decided To Follow Jesus, No Turning Back in many countries around our world has a very different meaning. Remember to pray for one another, especially the saints that are suffering persecution around the world.

Hebrews 13:1-3 (GNT)

1 Keep on loving one another as Christians. Remember to welcome strangers in your homes. There were some who did that and welcomed angels without knowing it. Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them. Remember those who are suffering, as though you were suffering as they are.

Dear Lord,

Please be with your saints around this sinful world that are suffering persecution and even death for your name’s sake. Pour out your Holy Spirit upon them, bless them mightily that they might endure and bring you honor! Forgive me please for my selfish sinfulness and failure to diligently seek to follow and obey you especially when there are others dying around the world for no other reason than they professed faith in Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Please Lord sent a revival to the Christian Church in this country that we might start living worthy of Your calling and begin making a difference in our own land.

In Jesus name and for His glory,

Amen!

Matthew 5:10-12 (NKJV)

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

May the Lord bless and keep you!
